For some years Jan has been living in North Eastern Florida, separated from her Sydney-suburb
home in New South Wales, Australia.

while only an hour or so away from the city, the North Western rural suburbs have an
unending wealth of Australian flora and fauna.

she misses waking up to see the Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos hanging upside down in the paper pines, searching for nuts...
opening the door to the verandah and gently shooing a
Bearded Dragon and his mate off the breakfast table.

...the smell of hot Eucalypts simmering in the summer heat,
suffused with wood smoke from the ever-smoldering bush fires...

the mad, infectious, laugh of the family of Kookaburrahs in a tree at the bottom of the paddock...

the four-inch-long Praying Mantis on the kitchen window in the cool respite of the evening...

she strives to catch the memories, the sound, the smells, and the sights
in each piece of her dreamtime-inspired art.
